CIVIL/PROJECT ENGINEER

  • ABOUT CONNECT ENGINEERING:
    Connect Engineering is a civil engineering consulting firm with locations in:

    • Idaho Falls, ID

    • Pocatello, ID

    • Logan, UT

    We are currently seeking a Licensed Professional Civil Engineer with at least 1 year of experience, or the ability to obtain licensure within the next six (6) months.


    POSITION OVERVIEW:
    The successful candidate will provide:

    • Project management

    • Drafting and design services

    • Coordination on various civil engineering projects


    PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
    This position may include, but is not limited to:

    • Preparation of plans, profiles, sections, and detailed drawings using AutoCAD Civil 3D

    • Gathering data from:

      • Existing drawings

      • Rough sketches

      • General engineering and design information

    • Collaborating closely with Design Drafters and Engineers to ensure coordinated designs

    • Operating CAD workstations, plotters, printers, and associated equipment

    • Developing and plotting:

    • Topographical contour maps

    • Elevation maps

    • Profiles and cross-sections

    • Assisting in the preparation of:

      • Engineering reports

      • Cost estimates

      • Specifications

      • Construction schedules

    • Applying standard drafting and design principles to complete projects

    • Utilizing project specifications, work plans, and drawings to ensure compliance


    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

    • Demonstrated proficiency in civil land-based design

    • Strong CAD drafting skills

    • Proficiency in the latest AutoCAD Civil 3D software

      • Applicants may be required to demonstrate AutoCAD Civil 3D skills during the interview

    • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs

    • Strong analytical and mathematical skills

    • Effective written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills

    • Ability to work both independently and within a team


    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Bachelor’s Degree (Preferred)

    • 2+ years AutoCAD experience (Preferred)

    • 1+ year as a Professional Engineer (Preferred)

    • Professional Engineer License in Idaho (Preferred)

    • Experience with:

      • Project management and/or overseeing designers

      • Reviewing and designing construction documents


    WORK SCHEDULE:

    • Monday: 7:30 AM – 5:30 PM

    • Tuesday–Friday: 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM

    Work Location:

    • Hiring for all office locations

    • In-person (Remote: TBD)


    COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:

    Wage: $70,000 - $105,000 (DOE)

SURVEY TECHNICIAN

    POSITION SUMMARY:
    We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Land Survey Technician to join our dynamic surveying team.

    In this role, you will assist in collecting, analyzing, and documenting land data to support construction, engineering, and land development projects. Your work will help ensure precise measurements and accurate mapping, contributing to the successful completion of complex infrastructure projects.

    This position offers an excellent opportunity to:

    PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Conduct land surveys using:

      • GPS equipment

      • Total stations

      • 3D scanners

      • Other survey instruments

    • Perform utility locating to identify underground utilities and prevent hazards

    • Collect data for:

      • Topographic mapping

      • Boundary determination

      • Construction layout

    • Utilize software such as:

      • AutoCAD

      • Civil 3D

      • MicroStation

      • Carlson

    • Assist in drafting:

      • Site plans

      • Schematics

      • Detailed construction drawings using Revit and CAD tools

    • Use GIS platforms (e.g., ArcGIS) for spatial analysis and land information management

    • Analyze collected data for accuracy, consistency, and completeness

    • Prepare detailed reports for project teams

    • Support construction crews by providing layout instructions and precise measurements


    EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS:

    Preferred (but not required):

    • Prior experience in land surveying or civil engineering

    • Familiarity with:

      • AutoCAD

      • Civil 3D

      • Trimble

      • Revit

      • MicroStation

      • ArcGIS and GIS applications

    • Practical understanding of:

      • GPS technology

      • Data collection methods

      • Construction processes

      • Schematic interpretation


    REQUIRED SKILLS & ABILITIES:

    • Ability to confidently operate survey instruments in diverse field conditions

    • Strong data analysis skills with excellent attention to detail

    • Ability to perform heavy lifting during field operations

AutoCAD DRAFTER/DESIGNER

  • POSITION OVERVIEW:
    We’re seeking a hardworking, dependable AutoCAD Drafter/Designer with a passion for learning and growth. This position supports our project managers and professional engineers on a wide range of civil engineering projects—from small-scale developments to large, complex designs.     RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Draft and design civil engineering projects using AutoCAD Civil 3D

    • Prepare plans for residential subdivisions, multi-family site designs, roadways, and parking lots

    • Assist with water and sewer line layouts, extensions, and repair projects

    • Support project managers and professional engineers with design tasks, documentation, and plan coordination

    • Review and update drawings based on markups, field data, and project requirements

    • Ensure accuracy, organization, and adherence to project standards and deadlines

ENGINEER INTERN

Idaho Falls & Chubbuck | Full-Time

    • Attend and actively participate in meetings with both internal and external stakeholders, collaborating closely with fellow Professional Engineers.

    • Effectively communicate with cities, counties, property owners, developers, team members, subcontractors, and surveyors to ensure smooth project progress.

    • Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of current and upcoming state and federal regulations.

    • Serve as a mentor and primary source of permit training for Assistant and Associate Engineers.

    • Take responsibility for creating and reviewing Site Plans, Planned Unit Developments (P.U.Ds), plats, and related documents.

    • Participate in the billing process by reviewing your own billable hours as well as those of your team members.
